The King

Once upon a time, there was a king. No one in the great kingdom felt spite towards him, his people loved him, he treated his humble servants justly and nobly, and loved them with all his true heart.

Eternal pain was the only misery he had, the only but worst grief among all: the sorrow as he had no queen on his great side, to cheer up his lone days, to be his hold in bitter times for the soul.

And so all people tried every cure, doctors and wisemen were visiting him in his splendid court, but no medicine could cure such suffering. Nothing could be done to conjure up a smile on his face.

Dawn time was already as he still had no sleep and a great decision was born in his mind; he said goodbye to all lords and ladies, and said to his people:

- my dear servants, who has been serving me tirelessly, i speak my greeting now to you, as we won’t see each other for a certain time. i take the road now and won’t return till i find my cure for my pain, a queen for the great kingdom, a wife for my life, a mate for my soul.

Once he sighed as the speech reached its end, but he still was courageous and manful, how great king he was!

No obstacle was in his way, he was running and seeking for the most precious treasure on the surface of this land; golden forests and silver rivers were his palace to where he slept, birds and deers were serving him meekly, flowers and honey were his eatings.

Like the beauteous voice of a siren was he heard once, suddenly, unexpectedly, heart-breakingly, so his heart was pumping in his throat; like demented beast he was running closer and closer to find the source of such mistress; she was sitting in an ice-cave, like a big and impenetrable window front of her, but there was no way out.

-Your voice and being amazes me, please, if you come out of this terrible prison of yours, i hold you in my arms till eternity, palace will be the great roof for your head, i will serve you meekly, your eating will be my heart, my lady.

-your words are the happiness of my heart, my great lord, from this moment of my life my wish is to serve you till the end, humbly, faithfully, blindly. but ice is my home, loneliness is my true servant, and mourning is my eating. i am trapped here until eternity, i accepted my black fate. by listening your vioce you break my heart, so, my dear lord, if you do not wish to help my misery, please, leave, or i swear i die.

-my dearest lady, how could i help if you are cursed to be in such pain till the end of time, and i can’t do anything to set You free? i believe every sound of Your sweet words, so i must leave before we both burn in such fire.

-my dear lord, if you wish to serve me in all your life, you must share my home with me, whatever may come. beware of deciding fastly and foolishly, if once you enter, there is no way out, you will be sharing my loneliness until the end of time comes.

Until she finished the king listened to his lady, and after, with no doubt he entered the cold ice-cave, where even a flame would survive not more than a moment. No man could stand the coldness of a wall which stood between them, but hugging his lady turned everything warm around.

As he felt the blessing of her protecting arms, he felt the happiness which is beyond all the kingdoms in the universe. In fact, he smiled.
